I never was a big card sender until I found Send Out Cards. Seriously, not including Christmas, I probably only sent out 1 or 2 cards a year. Those were usually from times when I was snotty towards my wife and needed to give her a card to get out of the dog house.

I did not have fun every Christmas because of what a pain in the butt it was to send several hundred Christmas cards to my friends and family. Two Christmas’s ago it took my wife, my son and I about 8 hours to get our Christmas cards out. I got stuck addressing all the envelopes because I have the best hand writing.

This last Christmas it took me less than one hour to send out 350 Christmas cards, that included design time and each card cost me $1.37.

I’ve been bombarded this last week of subjects from building a blog, monetizing your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Generating leads through your social media. Strangers posting their opportunities on my Facebook wall. Crazy! As I said I haven’t seen just one person that is out there defining how and what should be done and not done in the social media arena. Either that or people are just doing whatever the hell they want (I think that’s what it is) even if it’s wrong.

We are sold to over and over and over and over (you get my point) on a minute to minute basis. For example I’m sitting here in Coffee Bean and I see an ad on the silent TV for Nicorette. I turn around and I see hundreds of coffee’s I could buy. I’m in sold to over load. Now I don’t think these methods are working like they use to. I want to feel special or at least important to the seller. I got in line to buy my bottled water (I feel obligated to buy something because I am using their internet) and the lady that took my money was obviously not having a great day and I felt as though I was speaking to the ICE queen. She takes my $1.95 and I hate change so I go into this head argument with myself if I should drop the nickle into the tip jar. I hate carrying change but she was not nice, as my wife says she was kind of poopie to me. Then I think she probably shares this tip jar with the other people that take your coffee order so I give in to giving to just give and drop the entire nickle in the tip jar. Back on subject Brian…ok

So there was no bond between Raven and I. I only bought out of guilt but would have appreciated a smile and hope you have a nice day. Is that really to much to expect now days? I think not. I bet if the manager or owner of Coffee Bean witnessed my experience with Raven, who I’m sure is a wonderful happy person, just not today they would have let her know. Oh yea I said I would get back to my point.

Social Media and for the simplicity of the noise lets talk Facebook. Why would I want to have anyone spam my wall with their product that could help me lose two dress sizes? I can honestly say that I’ve never worn a dress so how would I know if I need to lose two dress sizes? I don’t and could I possibly think that this person is calling me fat?

You see I would have preferred if this person struck up a conversation with me on Facebook chat. Invested in me and inquired if I thought I might even think I need to lose weight and provided me with a possible solution, that is if I brought it up.

You see I have what I think is the best home based business opportunity out there but I don’t run around and plaster it on people’s walls, wall spamming. I’m not just trying to sign anyone up I’m looking for people that have a strong desire to generate a side income. I’m providing a place or an avenue by showing my life style for people to come to me and ask…what do you do. Then I still don’t tell people, because the conversation is not about me. It’s about this person that took the time to ask about me. I want to take the time to get know this person before we proceed. I’ll talk more about this in the future. I’m building a relationship through social media. I getting people to like me and my Facebook page is an open book of who and what I am. My history and what I’m doing now.

What’s funny is I’m sitting here and my iPhone buzzes with a Facebook announcement that reads something to the effect that I can learn how to make a $1,000 from home from a stranger that I know nothing about. What would make me go “OH YEA I want me some of that from someone I don’t know?” Nothing because as we humans think, what is this person going to either try to sell me or scam me?

Enough of my chatter. I hope it makes sense in a round about way. My writing is the reason that I shoot videos because I can stay more on task.

I’m now off to send a few cards to some people with my awesome Send Out Cards system. I attending a networking meeting this morning and two people gave a value to my morning by sharing about their businesses. I feel the best way to thank them for the awesome information is to send them a heartfelt card letting them know. I also have a few reminders that some friends birthdays are coming up so I will handle those quickly with out going to a store, picking out a card, writing in it, stuffing, stamping and mailing it. Life is good and easier thanks to my Send Out Cards system.

I know that we are on the dawn of a new era with us walking on the fresh ice known as social media. We are about to move into a new realm of how marketing happens. We have to be the leaders to cancel out the noise.

Speaking of giving thanks Memorial Day passed and I ask you to find a veteran, hug them and tell them thanks.

My wife, Blair & Lane Billings are sitting in a little coffee shop preparing to board our ship Infinity for a 7 day cruise to Alaska. We are so excited to see the eagles, whales, bears and creatures this next week. On Sunday we are meeting a friend (Julie Mattson) who is a fishing guide that Michelle & I both grew up with. We are going salmon fishing and should be a blast!

Since I’ve been gone I’ve finally beat the bug I picked up in Mexico after visiting the doctor a couple of times and taking a few different pills. The process wasn’t the best but I’m good!  I’m very thankful that I have surrounded myself with amazing people to help me through the tough times.  I’m also so impressed with leverage I’ve gained with network marking.  Even though I’ve been out of the game I still have people going after their dreams.  That helps me make it through my tough times.  I remember my time as a cop that I depended on overtime to make extra money to pay off my bills.  Most cops I worked with bragged of how much overtime they worked because none of us were ever paid enough.  Back then if I got sick then I was missing out on 20-30 hours of overtime per paid period.  I love leverage!  If you want to know more about leverage you should go and read The Business of the 21st Century by Robert T. Now that I’m back I’m going to step up on my soap box and talk about something that’s been pretty freaking huge. This is something that has happened back in my old stomping grounds as a police officer or cop. Two fine, upstanding police officers died, were murdered and there children were left with out a father. I’m so pissed off that this doesn’t get the media attention it deserves. These officers/warriors stepped up and were seeking out criminals and were right! How do we know they are right? Well they gave their lives proving the point and two other officers were shot! This should be NATIONAL news! But seriously who cares about what happens to a police officer in Arkansas right? We’re to busy giving a crap about what happens with the NBA season or if our team is going to make it in the World cup right?  It shouldn’t be because I can tell you from experience these guys aren’t paid enough to face the danger they face day in and day out.  I actually had someone tell me that “being a cop isn’t the most dangerous job there is out there.”  Really?  That’s right because when it comes to the other jobs they talk about injuries, you see being a cop there’s over a 100 every year that are killed looking out for YOU!!!  How are you giving back to the people that are making it safe for you to sleep at night, drive the roads and protect you from evil?  I hope you are thankful.  I’m now going to step off of my soap box.  Rest in Peace my brother officers!  I appreciate you and your service to your community and your country!

I’m so lucky to have surrounded myself with amazing people who lift my spirits and drive me to do more each day to help others!  I learn new things daily about myself.  I learn that I can do more each day and I really have no reason to complain about anything because if I’m complaining I’m not taking responsibility.  If I don’t take responsibility then I’m blaming someone for where I’m at.  If I’m blaming then I’m a victim!  If I’m a victim to life then how do I ever break out and be everything I want be….I TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!
